Sleeping was painted at the Delaplaine during my open studio class.  The students and I where painting together; I like to work on paintings in class so students can take a break and watch.  Come and go instead of sitting watching a demo.
Sleeping is a hot painting under the white.  It is always fun to see the faces of students when I change the painting so much.  It was very hot summer day on the third floor of Delaplaine and the AC was not working.  I wanted to cool myself off.  I thought  painting winter landscape, white and thinking cold would break the heat in my mind.  I always think of winter landscape as mother nature resting.  So I called this painting “Sleeping.”
